Briefly describe why preservation matters to your business: In this age of rampant Tear Downs in many communities of CT and NY it is important to dispel the perception that Historic Preservation is only for the ultra-wealthy. As I discovered with my own home in historic Village creek preservation can be the most practical and cost effective option for building owners when combined with Preservation and Green building tax credits. Growing up in a home built in 1918 along with time spent at my grandparents’ house that was built in 1792 my interest in old and historic buildings started at an early age. Later in life I earned a degree in History and Art History. Preservation has allowed me to continue to learn and physically connect with the history of the buildings we work on and their surrounding communities. Historic buildings can remind all of us of the people, family and history that have passed thru these buildings and help tell our nation’s story on a very local level. I think that’s important.
